Old MacDonald's Farm, Sackets Harbor

Image
It is difficult to rate this business as an ice cream stand, however that's why I visited. I passed signs for about a month telling me about the ice cream stand.  I first found out they don't have evening hours which I thought was odd for a seasonal ice cream stand.   I finally had a chance to visit when they were open.  The ice cream stand is part of an area attraction, old McDonald's farm.  I was trying to figure out how to get into the ice cream stand since I didn't plan on visiting the whole attraction.  I didn't see any people waiting in lines and the door was locked.  I could see two young girls mopping in a back area so I asked them how to get into the ice cream store.  They said it was a slow day so they closed early.  "The store was already closed.'  As I was leaving two women were leaving the back area which seemed to be the attraction and they asked if they could help with anything I said "no, because the story already closed for the day.&q

Texas Roadhouse

Chain style sit down restaurant located in Watertown New York Rating 4 Baskets of complementary rolls with their famous cinnamon butter. Most of the meals are priced above minimum wage, but they did have a few options below.   Dinner included a house salad. We had decent meals served by a pleasant waiter.

Adams Country Club

Adams NY - Rating 4 First business group outing since Covid.  I hadn't eaten here in years.  It has a different name now, but it brought back happy memories.  I thought the dinner would be in one of the private side rooms but they set up a buffet at the end of the main dining room.  Beautiful night for golfers.  They did a good job with the buffet.    Although "country clubs" are not something I would typically think about visiting on minimum wage, but I did look at the regular menu.  They offered many choices below minimum wage including some pasta items.

Moe's

Stateway Plaza, Watertown Rating 4.5 Eat in or take-out Moe's is one of my favorite assembly line style restaurants.  Walking in your cheerfully greeted to "Welcome to Moe's".  All orders include complimentary chips which means a trip to the salsa bar.  Although I don't normally add beverages to the meal, and I am not a big soda person.  When I eat in I do tend to splurge on a soda. They have the machine with all kinds of crazy flavors, so it's fun to try the new options. Ample indoor seating. Almost all the options are well below minimum wage.  As you proceed down the line they will make your order to your specifications.  I love beans, rice, and vegetables so I asked them to add a little bit of almost everything. They gladly comply.  My hefty burrito allowed me to have leftovers.  The chips are always fresh and delicious. If there's something you don't like, no problem because they're assembling it as you go, just ask them to skip it.  Visiting

CoreLife Eatery, Watertown NY

Rating 3.5 This was our first time at a CoreLife.  It reminds me a little of a salad bar where someone else makes the salad.   I would go again, if I was in a hurry and I really wanted a salad.  I thought it was pricey for what we got.  The salads are 8.75 for small 10.55 for a large.   We ordered the small and left hungry.  Next time I will order a large.    An assembly line type dining experience. Order a salad or broth from a list of combinations.  Then move down the line as they add measured ingredients. They ask you if you don't want something added and wil then leave it off.   Handy if you are a person who dislikes something listed as an ingredient.  You can also add side orders. I added what looked like roasted brussel sprouts.  Pay and tip at the end of line.  Everything else is self service.  Get your own drinks and bus your own table.      Southwest Chicken with Purple Rice.  I thought from the description it was going to be served over or have a side of rice.  When they
