Mr. Sub

Image
Mr. Sub. Located in Public Square in Watertown New York. The converted gas station is  a great small family-owned sub and pizza shop. This is a place where you can definitely eat below minimum wage. They offer slices with toppings for $1.25.  The $1.25 is actually an increase, they were a dollar for years. The slices are ample, two slices make the perfect lunch. On Fridays in the summer they offer chicken barbecue in the parking lot.

B-Hats Curry House

Located in Watertown, New York this restaurant is a solid 4 1/2 stars. We visited on a Saturday night  and the eclectic crowd  filled every booth . The service was prompt  and personable, at the end of the meal we had an opportunity to visit with the owner. Most of the entrees are priced slightly higher than $10. It would be possible to eat here for less if you stuck to the soups or appetizers. The entrees we tried were flavorful and delicious, both vegetarian priced slightly over $10 we had enough to take some home. I'm looking forward to going back. We would like to try the buffet which is offered at lunch. Dinner with two vegetarian entrees, two specialty teas and a  side order of naan bread was just over $30. One thing that seems a little odd, they don't bring a bill to the table you pay at the hostess stand on the way out using the on-screen billing.

Cottage Inn, Copenhagen New York

Turned out to be a great find. We went to Copenhagen for a church supper, but they were sold out. We've been by the cottage in many times before so we decided to give it a try. Happily it was wing night. 50 cent wings medium delicious. A side of mac and cheese for $3 a cup of corn chowder also $3 beer specials $3. Easy to make a great meal for less than minimum wage. We plan to go back many items looks reasonable and delicious.

L & L Hawaiian BBQ

Perhaps it was because it was late on a Friday night but we didn't enjoy your meal as much as we had in the past. The good news is that by minimum wage standards almost everything on the menu was considered affordable.  Very few items with the exception of the combination plates actually cost more than $9.70 the new minimum wage. A full size meal includes two scoops of rice and a scoop of salad. I didn't realize one of the salad choices for sale it was a green salad. We ordered one meal with three scoops of rice and the other with a macaroni salad. I'm not a big fan of their mac salad. I don't know what they use for a dressing but it has very little flavor and is a very wet macaroni salad. We opted to try the more expensive combination platters. The first choice was the barbecue mix consisting of barbecue chicken beef & BBQ short ribs, We have had this conbo in the past and this time found the meat dry and much smaller portions the price $10.55. Second choice with
