Good food at a fair price with fun 50's diner decor.  The daily specials are great and many options are available for under minimum wage.  Chicken Parmesan Sandwich  Pesto Grilled Cheese - Fries

Tony Luke's, Philadelphia Airport

What would a trip through Philly be without a Cheese steak?   We didn't have a very long layover so we needed a quick dinner.  My first choice was a place that sounded like a non chain restaurant.  Located the food court.  Located the restaurant.  Closed.  Changed gates, found another food court.  Tony Luke's was the only one that sold Cheese steak.  The line to order was short, but the line waiting for pickup was long.  The woman taking orders told us how long it take so we ordered.  Her estimate was reasonable.   I ordered the traditional Philly Cheese steak and it was delicious.  Very filing.  Prices were a little steep for a simple sandwich, but not bad considering an airport location.   Delicious  Steak and provolone

Grand Hacienda, St. Pete's Beach, FL

We were a bit of an eclectic group.  We were looking for a restaurant that was relatively close to our resort so that it didn't cost of fortune to get there.  We wanted something that was fairly close to the beach so that we could enjoy the evening near the water. We wanted something that was in a reasonable range of our expensive account. One person really wanted authentic Mexican having grown up in Florida, he wanted the type of restaurant that he remembered from his youth. One person had never really tried Mexican food, and was under orders from my husband try something new and not pick a hamburger or something she could get anywhere. And there was me. I can always go for Mexican.   We found a restaurant within about a block of the beach that was a reasonable distance from the hotel.    We all were very pleased with our meals. Prices seemed reasonable for the area, however most dinners were priced above minimum wage.   Complimentary chips and salsa were delicious.  It was hard

Nice little shop, combination ice cream stand, bakery, coffeeshop, souvenir shop, candy store. Located across from the beach,. Perfect place for an after dinner treat or coffee.   Single scoop.   A little pricey, but not bad considering the area. Nice assortment of flavors.

Uncle Andy's Ice Cream Parlor

Image
Uncle Andy's is located in the Don Cesar Resort. It's described as an ice cream parlor, but really it's more of a convenience store.  Sure ice cream is the star of the show but they also have snacks sandwiches and breakfast pastries.    Although it's still pricey for what you get, Uncle Andy's provides an alternative to the higher priced resort restaurants.
